Top of the World
Alexis McKinnon earns Top of the World honor for General Paper
Booker junior, Alexis McKinnon, received Top of the World honors for her score on the General Paper exam last June. Alexis had the highest score of all the students who took the exam in the June 2017 series.
Worldwide, there are over 1 million students participating in the Cambridge program and over 2 million exams are taken in various subjects.
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized by Cambridge International as Top in the World. The best way to describe the Cambridge International program is as an integration into a world of next level thinking. My Cambridge classes have engaged me in a way standard classes had never done before. Learning about issues in the world around me, how to use critical thinking techniques, and how to go about analyzing information has exposed me to concepts that I will be able to apply to thinking in the real world and in my future.”
About BHS Cambridge AICE
Booker High School is in our fifth year of offering the Cambridge International AICE program. It is a highly rigorous, college-preparatory program that allows students to earn college credit while in high school. The Cambridge AICE program is a magnet program that students apply to.
Booker High School currently offers 12 AICE courses and 6 Pre-AICE courses. This provides students with a wide vraiety of options throughout their high school experience. The AICE program works in tandem with both the Visual & Performing Arts (VPA) program and the Law Academy.
Cambridge AICE students are:
• confident in working with information and ideas – their own and those of others
• responsible for themselves, responsive to and respectful of others
• reflective as learners, developing their ability to learn
• innovative and equipped for new and future challenges
• engaged intellectually and socially, ready to make a difference
