Students who earn the Cambridge AICE Diploma are considered Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) and will earn the highest level of Bright Futures. They will receive an award to cover 100% of tuition and applicable fees and $300 for both fall and spring semesters for additional educational expenses. Students attending a public institution will have tuition and applicable fees covered. These fees include activity and service fee, health fee, athletic fee, financial aid fee, capital improvement fee, campus access/transportation fee, technology fee and tuition differential fee. Students attending a nonpublic institution will receive a comparable amount as noted in the Private Award Chart.
The Cambridge AICE Diploma is awarded to students who complete at least seven Cambridge courses and pass the exams for those courses. There are four categories that the courses are placed into and a student must pass one exam in each of the four categories. The remaining three exams can be taken in any of the categories.
The categories that courses are divided into are as follows (classes BHS offers are in parentheses):
Math & Science (Math 1, Biology, Chemistry, Marine Science, Environmental Management, Psychology)
Languages (English, Spanish)
Arts & Humanities (Literature in English, U.S. History, European History, Psychology, Sociology, Digital Media & Design, Media Studies, Art & Design, Music)
Global Perspectives (Global Perspectives)
*General Paper & Thinking Skills do not fall into one of the categories required for the Cambridge AICE Diploma. They are together in an optional category and no more than two credits can be earned in both classes combined towards the diploma.
